Elizabeth Z. Hite 1952-2000 Portland - Elizabeth (Betty) Zadia Hite, 48, wife of Michael J. Hite, died Nov. 30, 2000, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Brunswick, June 18, 1952, the daughter of Wilson C. Ryder Jr. and Blanche E. Ryder. She graduated from Brunswick High School. She was married to Michael in Brunswick on March 17th, 1976. Betty last worked for and loved her employment at LL Bean, INC., as an administrative assistant. During her employment she recieved LL Beans highest employee recognition as "Bean's Best". She loved stock car racing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, birdwatching, cooking, and spending as much time as possible with her husband, Mike. She was a mamber of the Topsham Grange, Topsham American Legion, and was a notary public. In addition to her beloved husband and soul mate, Michael John Hite, USN Ret., she is survived by her father and stepmother, Wilson C. Ryder, Jr. and Lilia B. Ryder, of Ansonia, Conn.; her mother, Blanche E. Ryder, of Topsham; two brothers, Wilson C. Ryder 3rd of Litchfield, and Eugene Ryder of Ansonia, Conn.; two sisters, Dorothy Anderson of Bridgeport, Conn., and Elaine Ryder of Ansonia, Conn.; stepchildren, Roseann Schacht and husband Gary of Virginia Beach, VA., Frances K. Hite of Jacksonville, NC., and Micheal J. Hite and wife Wendy of South Bend, Ind.; grandchildren, Brian, Grant, and Ashley Schacht of Virginia Beach, VA., and Taryn Hite of South Bend, Ind. Several sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins,and many peers survive her.
